!NEW! FLOR DE SELVA ORGANIC, Peru
This time we present you a super clean and complex washed coffee from the Andes mountains. You can expect a structured and sweet coffee with a delicate acidity throughout. It has flavour notes of stone fruit, plums, marsipan and honey.
Peru is a rising star in specialty coffee and the quality is AMAZING! It's pretty spectacular that they produce coffees that good with minimal infrastructure!
It is the second year we buy this particular Peruvian coffee. Flor de Selva is the name of a value added communal producer blend concept. It is a lot made up of coffee from producers in the surroundings of the village Flor de Selva in La Coipa. They are all smallholders with 1-3 hectares each and all are located at high altitudes. The producers are part of a coffee quality program through the organisation Origin Coffee Lab. All of them are certified ORGANIC and recieve high premiums on the prices and other benefits in return for premium quality. Origins Coffee Lab isn't all about coffee. Since late 2017 it has also started an ambitious public health project in the area, where clinics are sparse and access to health services is limited and where the kinds of basic check-ups we take for granted can be profound. Most of the smallholder farmers have been able to increase there income and living standard due to these kind of programs.
